Fancy a castle as your neighbour? Caernarfon Castle is just down the road from 'Ysgol Jos Bach' ( Small Jones' School) which occupies an elevated position above the Harbour and Steam Train Welsh Highland Railway line in Caernarfon. Discreetly situated on South Road and dating from the early 19th Century this little school house has been cleverly converted into a lovely spacious modern holiday home in one of the most historic towns in North Wales. The old walled town of Caernarfon is half a mile away where historic taverns and small restaurants are secreted within the walls. From the doorstep the old granite steps leads down to the harbour and the narrow gauge Harbour Train Station and Castle. There is an excellent cycle path (1/4 mile) from the harbour along the old railway line. Excellent sandy beach at Dinas Dinlle (6 miles) and only 8 miles from Snowdon. Other local attractions include Segontium Roman Fort site, Beacon indoor climbing centre, Royal Town of Caernarfon golf course, harbour boat rides. Supermarket and Inns 400m and takeaway 1/2 mile.

Guest Feedback:
PN (September 2022):
Excellent "Superb comfy and relaxing. This place was ideal for us, modern and spacious . It was very well equipped. Location is perfect for North Wales exploration. Walking distance to Caernarfon. I would love to stay here again"
SJ (August 2022): 4.7 STARS "Gorgeous Cottage in a fantastic location with amazing views! A lovely cottage, would definitely love to return. The booking process was easy and efficient and the contact we had from the Housekeeper was fantastic from before our arrival right through until we after we had left. The views from the cottage are amazing and the outdoor space is larger than it looks on the photo's. A table outside would be really useful as we spent a lot of time sat out there and had nowhere to put drinks/food. The washing line was an added bonus I didn't know we had. We travelled as a family of 5 (4 of us are adults) and there was plenty of seating space for us all inside and out and having two bathrooms was great. Only down side was the top bunk wasn't really suitable for an adult due to the low ceiling but we worked round it. The cottage has everything you need to cook yourselves which we did a few times and we also ate out at Villa Marina and The Anglesey Arms both of which were lovely. The location means that we didn't have to move the car other than to go to the beach which is just what we wanted. The town is only a short walk and there is a large Tesco's only a 2/3 minute walk away. Having a space close for 2 cars was very useful as we haven't had this in many holiday cottages. It is definitely the best cottage we've ever stayed in and have certainly never had such a lovely view, especially at sunset. The town itself is lovely and I would recommend a visit to the Castle. We liked sitting by the Marina and my daughter loved been able to go crabbing most days."
The Gs (August 2022): "A lovely place to stay in a great location for exploring the area and beyond. Thank you"
The Vs (August 2022: "We had a lovely stay. Just the little things like making good use of the space and already having things like kitchen roll realy add to how amazing this cottage is! A table outside would have been good but other than that iit's amazing!! The youngest realy enjoyed playing Quandry, one of the games you had in. Perfect location. Lovely meals at Villa marina and we loved Anglesey Arms and would recommend climbing Snowdon. Great weather. Has been amazing"
Mrs A (October 2021): Good "A comfortable and well equipped property, very clean and handy for Caernarfon and the Welsh Highland Railway with the fab views of course. Had a good holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. Just had to watch the stairs which were steep for our small dog, other than that no problems."

H Family (October 2021): "Have enjoyed our stay here in this comfortable well equipped quirky house. Short walk into Caernarfon and close to the Welsh Highland Railway. Some nice little shops tucked away & good eating places: Wal, Anglesey Arms, our favourites (plus pancake place Scoops). All dog friendly. Beds comfortable too. Would recommend for a comfortable well located stay. Thank you"

Mrs P (September 2021): Good "Amazing location. Was a bit concerned by the security arrangements such as the four door locks and metal shutters. However it was perfectly fine and felt completely safe. Was a bit of traffic noise, but only as we live in middle of nowhere. Absolutely stunning location. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable sofa and bed. No issues with parking in garage a little bit down the road. Overall a great holiday, thanks"

Mrs K (September 2021): 3 STAR "The accommodation was spacious and well-situated. Water in both showers was lukewarm however. Kitchen was patchily equipped and good do with a more reliable toaster and sharper set of knives" Thanks for the Feedback which we have passed on the Property Owner and his Deputy for their consideration. Please could issues such as these be brought to our, or the Property Owner's, or his Deputy's, attention straight away so that they can be rectified - this benefits current guests and those coming afterwards.

Mr W (September 2021): Excellent "Excellent location for walking to town centre with stunning views of the Castle. The property is an old school with tons of modern character. You can use the bus to hop on hop off to visit Snowdonia or park your car next to property."
Mr C (September 2021): Excellent "Ysgol Jones Bach is a fantastic place to stay It is a very tastefully converted 19th century school It is very spacious modern but also has the charming features of the Victorian era. This includes decorative roses on the ceiling and exposed wooden beams. It also has amazing views of the estuary and Caernarfon Castle absolutely stunning. Many an evening was spent sipping wine watching the sun set behind the castle. It's also a special place as it can sleep 6 The main bedroom is on a mezzanine floor but there are 2 bedrooms downstairs too. The housekeeper lives very close by She is very pleasant and helpful but in no way intrusive. The apartment is also well equipped washing machine cooker oven and grill as well as a microwave. Lighting is very good and of chic modern design. Plenty of other cooking equipment and a washing machine fridge freezer. TV and sound system are good too. All in all excellent apartment in gorgeous town in an absolutely beautiful area"

G Family (August 2021): "Fabulous house with great view - spent ages watching the birds! Only used the car a couple of days as based ourselves here and walked loads. Welsh Highland Railway is a must. Wal in the town is great for lunches (Welsh breakfast :-) ). A lovely place to stay, friendly locals & great views - didn't bother us that it rained. Diolch!"

Mrs W (August 2021): Excellent "Fantastic views with a sense of spaciousness and calm even though it's situated in the town. Fairly well equipped."

M Family (July 2021): "Fantastic week in Caernarfon. Weather was absolutely amazing. Loved the openness of the house, and the views from the balcony were a pleasure to watch the wildlife every day. Went to Anglesey, Abersoch - lovely beaches and days out. Went for meals at: The Anglesey - view good, food mediocre, Four Alls - food lovely, reasonable and dog friendly, The Black Boy Inn -dog friendly, good food. Thanks to D for all your help."

R Family (July 2021): "We've had a fabulous week in this beautiful house with its magnificent view. On the estuary we spotted: Oyster Catchers, Great Egrets & Herons. Also, The Fairy Glen at Betws y Coed is well worth a visit - it's a trek to get to it but well worth it and you can "Wild Swim" there. Do go up Ben Twthill, the rock in the middle of Caernarfon - the view is amaing! Parc Glynllifon is a wonderful woodland walk and the cafe is fabulous! Thank you for sharing this special place with us."

Mr S (June 2021): Excellent "Excellent property for adults, had great views over the estuary and Castle from the back and the Welsh Highland steam railway ran just below the house. Also a good central area for sightseeing close to Anglesey, Snowdonia, Portmeirion etc."

K&S (June 2021): "We've had a great time, the house is lovely and comfortable with great views of the castle etc and we enjoyed seeing the steam train running past each day.
