Guest Comments:
JD (April 2024): 5 STARS
"Excellent holiday flat for myself and partner. The holiday flat was very modern. It was immaculately clean and warm. The view from the lounge looked out over the sea, which we loved. The flat was close to the centre of Porthmadog and next door to the Ffestiniog Railway which was lovely to see. The flat was on the ground floor and perfect for us. The car was parked just outside. It was a lovely stay...."
JS (April 2024): Excellent "Our short break in this apartment was wonderful, the location was perfect, the flat was just the right size for two people and had everything we needed."
SB (March 2024): Excellent "We stayed for four nights in early March, we chose the location because it's so convenient for getting to all the things we wanted to do. The view from the main window is just gorgeous. We appreciated having a dedicated parking space and because it was out of season it was always extremely quiet and peaceful. STS Holiday staff couldn't have been more helpful and responsive. It's a small property but was perfectly ok for us and we had a lovely stay, thank you."
IN (February 2024): 4.7 STARS "Fabulous. Great flat, close to amenities. As with all the flats on SSW they need regular maintenance and this one could do with some attention. Doesn’t deflect from the great views and it was super warm. A fab few days"
MT (February 2024): Excellent "Exactly what we needed. we don't look for luxury. we expect a nice clean place where to feel comfortable and like home. and this place gave what we wanted and needed. and at a good price as well."
MS (October 2023): Excellent "Small but very comfortable for two with great views across the estuary and very convenient for local amenities."
GCC (September 2023): Excellent "Short break. We have stayed here several times before so we knew what to expect. Everything was exactly as we expected. Well done STS"
SW (August 2023): 4.8 STARS "Lovely, peaceful with a beautiful view. We had a problem with the shower ,the service was excellent. The views were so beautiful and very peaceful. Nice clean bedding and lovely to have the tea coffee and milk also Welch cakes"
DD (August 2023): 4.7 STARS "Lovely view. Very clean and the tea/coffee and Welsh cakes a nice welcoming touch! The shower could do with attention - the link between the shower head and the unit needs replacing soon - works OK when you leave the shower head up high" Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property Owner.
HJ (July 2023): 2.5 STARS "Reviewed this flat before. Location wonderful. Flat very shabby and needs deep clean. Cobwebs and rubbish piled up front door and patio door. Very off putting on arrival.Won't be back" Thanks for the Feedback which are always passed on to the Cleaning Team and Property Owner and a review on how to improve standards at this flat. Following the Review we contacted the Guest to get more details - a deep clean will be carried out and a rug examined to see if it needs replacing or cleaning. The average scores for previous UpFront Reviews was: Cleanliness 4.2, Comfort 4.3 and Condition 3.8. Please report issues as soon as you can so that they can be sorted as soon as possible.
GC (May 2023): Excellent "Great. We have stayed here before so we knew what to expect. The views of the estuary are stunning as is the variety of seabirds. STS’s organisation was up to its usual high standards and the place was spot on when we first opened the front door. The Ffestiniog railway is 200 yards away allowing views of steam trains from the patio doors. On the station is the excellent Spooners Bar which supplies great hot food and drinks. A great place to stay"
PA (March 2023): 4.8 STARS "Everything about this apartment is excellent, for a good holiday clean comfortable, close to shops and restaurants, and town centre. It has everything you need and the view is amazing. Telly could be a bit bigger, Microwave needs replacing" Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on the Property Owner. The microwave has been replaced.
HJ (October 2022): 3.7 STARS "Fantastic view!! We have stayed in this flat before, it is well equipped with breathtakingly views. Watching the sun rise over the cob is spectacular. The flat needs a deep clean , the cleaner does a good job in her allotted time it really needs a good clean, skirting boards for example, rug is filthy. Mould is a health hazard for folk with breathing problems. However we had a great holiday" Thanks for the Feedback - which is passed on to the Property Owner. Please contact us or Property Owners as soon as you can as often problems can be rectified very quickly.
GR (July 2022): 3.7 Stars "Was just ok. The apartment was in a nice area needed a few things attending too, was comfortable, warm perhaps someone to check some points before a let which would iron out a few issues."
PH (June 2022) 4.5 STARS "Compact. Brilliant location. We found the bar stools awkward to use. View was outstanding with Snowdonia mountains beyond the tidal estuary and the Cob with its railway."
DE (June 2022): 4.5 STARS "We were looking for last minute accommodation in Porthmadog that was centrally located (walking distance home) and would take our 2 lovely dogs. Southerly Views Flat, Porthmadog fitted the bill perfectly STS were quick to reply that they would take both dogs having advertised for only one dog. Circumstances changed and we didn't actually take the dogs, I let STS know the day before departure and they refunded the dog fees immediately which I wasn't expecting. The accommodation has its own allocated parking and the walk to the front door is no distance at all and you could quite easily park outside to unload if required. The key was easily accessed from the key safe and entry gained. I would say the flat is Bijou but it was ample size for the 2 of us (Even though there was a sofa & 2 individual comfy chairs for a 2 person accommodation). We had no problems at all with our stay, we didn't cook whilst there as we were on holiday, but there is an oven with hob, microwave and toaster if needed. We found a couple of folding chairs and a table to sit outside the patio doors with the glorious views over the estuary with the huge tidal movements, whilst sipping on our beverages. The TV was small but we only used it to listen to music, the breakfast bar did have a wobble, the shower was smaller than ours at home but was hot with a good spray and both of us managed with no difficulties. It was very light in the bedroom and blackout style curtains may help you sleep longer?"
GC 08 Jun 2022: Excellent "Lovely. Once again Lee at STS provided us at short notice with a property on Snowdon Wharf with an estuary view. Thank you."
HJ 06 May 2022: 3.8 Stars "The flat is in an excellent position. Just right for older guests. It is surface clean but needs a deep clean. The 2 chairs are dreadful and very old and rickety. It is well equipped. The heating is mistimed, heating on overnight. But, we had a great week.
Mrs H (October 2021): Good "The situation of the property is 5star but it was let down by lack of care regarding mould near the patio doors, water mark round light fitting on ceiling, mould marks on bottom of curtains and lack of attention to cleaning behind the door of sitting room. The breakfast bar was a bit wobbly. The heating system wasn't easy to work out and the fan heater was full of dust which gave off a smell making it feel unsafe. The tv was very small and basic for this day and age. However, STS sorted out a few issues promptly and the view and situation of the apartment was perfect, hence the extra star." Thanks for the Feedback which will be passed on to Property Owner
Mrs B (September 2021): Good"This apartment has everything you might need, only reason for rating is the shower could be bigger"
Mr M September 2021) : Excellent "Its always pretty straightforward booking with STS.Not easy for them in the current circumstances but they have done a good job of safeguarding customers."
Mrs C (July 2021): Good "Great location and well equipped apartment. Loved it and would book again. TV was ok - but a tad on the small side." Comments passed on the Property Owner.
Mrs I (July 2021): Good "We had a problem with the water heater which leaked but was handled very quickly by Gwen and her team."
Mr T (Aug 2020): Good "Ideal location with fantastic views, very comfortable apartment, which was clean and well maintained."

Visit Wales Grade: 3 Star.

This ground floor apartment is a purpose built holiday property within a private complex. Approach is from a main road into tarmac parking spcaes throughout the estate.

The designated parking is suitable for one vehicle and is in a well-lit area just a few yards from the property. Access to the apartment is up one front door step. The apartment has a standard size pvc door leading into a compact hall area. From this area there are doors to the shower room, bedroom and the open plan living area with galley kitchen. From the living area there is a sliding patio door to the patio area which is down one step.

There is good lighting throughout the property with both a ceiling light and a lamp in the living area, spot lights in the kitchen area and spotlights and matching bedside lamps in the bedroom.

The shower room has a corner shower cubicle and electric shower, hand basin and WC. Again there is good light with a ceiling light.

The flat is quite compact and not suitable for wheelchairs or cots.

We have never stayed here in a ground floor flat, it was very pleasant not to have to climb stairs. The views were delightful with plenty of trains to see. The accommodation was adequate, enabling you top cook meals if you wish. Overall very enjoyable.

The outlook is spectacular with a large sliding glass door giving views across the estuary (only a few metres away) and mountains. Additionally, there is a great view of the Cobb which carried the stream hauled trains of the Ffestiniog railway across the estuary. On the other side there is the harbour and town which has all the usual facilities although staff shortages meant several places weren't able to offer meals this year which meant more cooking in the property! The only downside is that the property is quite small although well laid out.

We have stayed in this flat on two previous occasions at least, and never had cause to find fault. This time however the flat was looking very tired and it being very early in the season, we had anticipated everything being spick and span. The curtains in both rooms had black mould on them, a large water stain on the bedroom ceiling, a badly cracked washbasin with a temperamental plug in the bathroom, flaking paint and mould above the sliding doors which were so smeary inside as to detract from the view, dirty streaks on two walls at least, a dirty floor around the base of the badly worn standard lamp. Although the weather was very warm during the day, the nights were chilly and we arrived to a cold flat to find no instructions as to how to put the heating on or how to get hot water. Having surmounted those problems the next thing was to go shopping as we found there was no toilet roll, no bin bags, no dish cloth and o cleaning products other than hand wash, washing up liquid and sanitiser. The bathroom had no cloth and again no cleaning product other than hand wash. This discounts the lime scale remover and the black mould remover which clearly hadn’t been used for a long time. In addition the dust din was full and it did not appear to be domestic rubbish. Fortunately we knew the rules for recycling.
