STS Grade 5

A window full of mountains awaits you here! This Snowdonia farm cottage is prepared to exacting standards in a quiet location above the valley, with panoramic views of the countryside and the trains of the Welsh Highland Railway puffing its way to Snowdon. Situated up a well maintained farm track you are ensured a relaxing holiday between the villages of Beddgelert (2.4 mls) and Rhyd Ddu (1.7 mls). The rooms are all very comfortable and cosy but the conservatory is the place everyone will want to be in, with it's cosy seating and picture windows with amazing views across the valley. One of the best footpaths up Snowdon is 1.5 mls from the doorstep. Excellent food at the inn in Rhyd Ddu and a choice of places to eat in Beddgelert. Nearby beaches including Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog (12 mls). Local 'must-do' attractions include, of course, the Welsh Highland Railway steam train rides between Caernarfon and Porthmadog - with a little station at Rhyd Ddu - Caernarfon castle, Beacon Climbing Centre and Sygun Copper Mines. Favourite walks include Fisherman's Walk along the river at Beddgelert and the Nantlle Ridge challenge is nearby - highly recommended!

Guest Feedback:
ES (April 2024): 4.3 STARS
"Lovely cottage in amazing location. The cottage was comfortable and spacious - plenty of room for our family of five including two enormous teenagers! It is generally well equipped and had all we needed for a few days in Wales. The thing that makes it truly amazing is the location. The views are stunning - when the cloud clears you can see the peak of Snowdon. It is very close to two of the paths up Snowdon, including the relatively easy Snowdon Ranger Path. The proximity to easier walks in Beddgelert Forest was great for days we didn't want to get in the car. The cottage was very good value. My criticisms are minor: some of the bedding was a bit tatty (not that the teenagers minded), there was a shortage of knives, and a wooden spoon or two would have been useful. But this was a fantastic cottage which I would highly recommend and would be very likely to return to" Thanks for the Feedback, which are always passed on to Property Owners.
GE (September 2023): 4.2 STARS "Well appointed cottage on a working farm. The cottage is in an excellent location with magnificent views but being in an exposed position off the main road is prone to any bad weather conditions. On my stay overnight storms resulted in part of the track near the road being partly washed away (fixed by the owner as I was leaving), but still passable with care. The only company you have is sheep which seem to like grazing in the back parking area if the gate is left open! WiFi reception is good whilst TV satellite reception can be problematical in windy conditions. The cottage is well equipped and looks to have had a thorough refurbishment in the recent past. My only complaint really was the poor weather for a couple of days and on a nice sunny day it would be ideal for sunbathing as the terrace has a south-west facing aspect, with a view of Snowdon summit at the rear on a clear day. The only thing which could put me off going again is the high cost for one person in mid-September"
MA (August 2023): Excellent "Fantastic place to stay. The location is superb next to the Rhyd Ddu Snowdon path and Beddgellert forest with walks on the doorstep. The scenery is breathtaking and surroundings relaxing. The house was very clean well equipped and comfortable. This was our 3rd visit and I would happily return"
AM (June 2023): 4.3 STARS "Second time visiting this wonderful place. Can’t wait for my third visit. Well have recently returned from another fantastic stay. Visited last year for the first time, same week May Half Term. Just fell in love with the location. I will be back for a third time. We may try a different time of year."
RH (May 2023): Excellent "A Beautiful Cottage With Amazing Views. Absolutely loved our stay at Rhyd Ddu farm cottage. If you like the peace and quiet and don't mind a bit of isolation, this is the perfect place. Our only neighbours were the sheep. The views from the cottage are absolutely breathtaking, and you can see Snowdon summit from the conservatory. There are so many nice walks you can do straight from the front door. Beddgelert Forest is on the opposite side of the road, and a few minutes walk down the road, and you're on to the Rhyd Ddu path up to Snowdon. We can't wait to return"
EH (August 2022): Excellent "This was such a lovely cottage, amazing views and lovely locations. We spent most of our time there in the conservatory looking at the views. It was very clean when we arrived. We hope to stay there again. Thank you"
AG (August 2022): Excellent"Wonderful. A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Conservatory comfortable with wonderful views. Very well equipped. We would love to return."
DH (July 2022): Excellent "Spot on accommodation. This holiday cottage was excellent. We had a great time. The location was perfect for Ryd Ddu path up to Snowdon. Kitchen had good quality equipment. We even enjoyed opening the 3 gates along the road to the cottage."
SK 09 Jul 2002 : 4.8 STARS "Detached cottage without any neighbours and fabulous views. I love this cottage because of it's location, accessible from an A road but well back from the road. There are 3 gates to go through to drive up to the cottage. It is opposite woodland where there are walks and cycle tracks. It is also near the Rhyd Ddu path to Snowden. The view of the mountains, lake and the Welsh Highland Railway track are fabulous. On a clear day, you can see the summit of Snowden. There are no neighbours, except for the livestock. The best part of the house is the conservatory, and the patio outside it. The kitchen is fairly modern and had everything that we needed. On arrival, we found that 4 pints of milk had been left for us. The mattresses on the beds felt soft to us, but we got used to them. You may want to bring your own sunshade, as one is not provided, although a sunshade base is provided. Often it may be too breezy to have a sunshade up. There is WiFi but not mobile phone reception, except for EE. However, there is a landline phone provided. This was our 2nd visit to the cottage."
SP (June 2022): 4.7 STARS "Amazing! A wonderful cottage in a stunning location with views to die for with walking and cycling straight from the door. Brilliant access to all of Snowdonia National Park and beyond. The owners cannot do enough for you. This is the third time that we have been to this cottage and it will not be the last!"
LA 14 May 2022:Excellent "Best house to stay with fabulous views. Excellent choice. Fabulous house with fantastic views. Very clean .lovely furniture. Will definitely come again 2023"
RS (May 2022): 4.5 STARS "A quiet away-from-it-all place to stay. This is a fine holiday let, comfortable and right in the heart of Snowdonia, quiet and isolated yet within easy reach of the main Beddgelert to Caernarvon road. Reasonably clean and well-cared for. Cleaner windows and working bathroom extractors would be good and the ground floor bathroom needs some attention but overall we loved it"
Mrs B (August 2020): "Fabulous! We really loved our visit to our holiday home & have already forwarded the details to our friends."
Mrs B (Oct 2019) : Good "Property is well equipped, clean and is in a wonderful location with panoramic views of the countryside."
Mrs M: Excellent "Fantastic location. Friendly and helpful owners. Farm cottage warm and clean."
Mr M: Excellent "A really remote cottage set in the most scenic location, incredible views of the mountains, with easy access to many walks and scrambles. Warm and comfortable accommodation, modern and fully equipped. We are regular visitors to Snowdonia, our first time here, certainly won't be the last, we will return."

Visit Wales Comments (May, 2013):
"A new property to the grading system, this attractive former farmhouse has been renovated to a high standard and provides guests with very comfortable accommodation. A modern kitchen diner well equipped, and with quality units and appliances. Cosy lounge and spacious conservatory with lovely views."
Overall Quality Percentage: 84%

Parking is within 10ft of the back door, the surface is made of crushed slate. There is no step, but only a small storm guard into the property. All doors are of standard 30 inch width. There is one step down into the conservatory from the lounge. There is a door from the conservatory to the front patio where there is a small step of 5 inches. There is a shower room wc on the ground floor which is designed as a wet room so there is no restrictions to movement. All bedrooms are on the first floor which is accessed via 13 normal steps with a handrail on the left hand side as you ascend. There is a shower cubicle in the double bedroom and a shower over the bath in the bathroom.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at an Rhyd Ddu farm that truly exceeded all expectations. This hidden gem, nestled in a charming village of Beddgelert, offered an experience like no other. The photos on the listing simply do not do justice to the sheer beauty of the surroundings. From every window especially from the conservatory and the spacious outdoor patio, we treated to sweeping vistas of rolling hills, lush green valleys, and distant mountains. The added bonus was the nearby farm, where I could hear the gentle sounds of farm animals in the distance. It added to the rustic charm and provided a sense of serenity that's hard to find elsewhere. There are convenience stores nearby with lovely pub in the Beddgelert village, do try their Pizza and ice cream. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this property ticks all the boxes. we left with a heavy heart, but with the promise that we would be back to enjoy this hidden paradise once more.
