STS Grade 3
Friday - Friday
Surrounded by open countryside near the sea at Llanbedr, 3 miles from Harlech, this cottage retains some original artefacts, such as a wooden hay hopper in the lounge. Carefully renovated and comfortably furnished as a holiday cottage for its proud owners' personal holiday use, it also makes an excellent spacious family holiday accommodation. Situated within a short (10 minute) riverside walk to the pretty village, Inn and shop, and 1ml from Shell Island's sandy beaches and the sea, it also has the Wales Coastal path run right past its front door. The mountain lane to the lovely 'Two Valleys' begins from the village for a good scenic walk. The sleepy Cambrian Coast railway line nearby is well worth using for having a few 'car free' days or just to have a trip and appreciate the beautiful Welsh coastline. Harlech (3 miles) is a small quiet town built around the mediaeval castle with interesting shops (lot of antique shops), leisure centre, swimming pool, theatre, links golf course and lovely restaurants.

RL (September 2023): 4.3 STARS
"This is a really beautifully situated cottage which would benefit from the installation of a shower." Thanks for the Review - which are always passed on to the Property Owner for their consideration.
RW (October 2022): 4.3 STARS "Lovely and cheery cottage in a great location. Plenty of excellent walks from the cottage or within a short drive. Close to Shell Island and other great beaches at Harlech & Barmouth. Harlech Castle is nearby and definitely worth a visit. Victoria Pub is less than ten minutes walk serving good food and excellent beer at a fair price. Artro valley going up to Llyn Cwm Bychan and the Roman Steps is fabulous although the road is very narrow with passing places. Another must is the Mawddach estuary bridge and Mawddach Way from Barmouth with spectacular views. Hope to return soon and would definitely stay at the Old Byre Cottage!"
EML (September 2022): 4.5 STARS "This is a great little cottage. It has all the amenities required. Unfortunately the beds are uncomfortable and the shower is over the bath, so anyone disabled is unabable to get in or out of it - but that's just me." Thanks for the Feedback - which is passed on the Property Owner.
PM (July 2022): 5 STARS "A lovely cottage in a great location for us as we have a boat on Shell Island. Easy to walk into Llanbedr from too. Our grandson loved being so close to the railway station and watching the train. So wonderful to be able to be so close to the station and go into Barmouth and Porthmadog. Will definitely return."
JM (April 2022): 4.3 STARS "The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring this part of Wales. Beautiful scenery and beaches."
Mrs F: "We had a great time and the weather was brilliant! Shell Island was close by so we had a beach day there and we were able to walk to the pub with the dogs and baby - it only took 10 mins."
Mr S: "Plenty of area for children to play"
