CB (April 2024): 4.2 STARS
"Great place to stay with amazing views of harbour. A quiet well appointed 2 bed apartment, amazing views, comfortable and warm, quiet location in central Porthmadog. Beds are comfy, kitchen well appointed. Bathroom could do with an update as well no internet as yet. EE mobile network seems the best overall signal getting 5g indoors and over 140MBps, so if you are coming with kids who need internet to keep them happy if it is raining all week then that is the best network to be on. I was told I would get a message with the key code for the key safe, but that never arrived, and the keys were just left in the unlocked key safe, so something to be aware of" Thanks for the Review, which are always passed on to the Property Owner. The e-mail with keysafe instructions was sent - we can't explain why it was not found.
SRH (January 2024): 4.5 STARS "Cosy comfy apartment with amazing views. Had a fantastic stay here, the views are amazing. The flat is so warm and comfy to come back to after wintery rainy walks! We loved seeing the tides change across the harbour and estuary and watching the waders, egrets and cormorants. Flat was very well equipped and beds really comfy. Great to have a parking space right next to the flat as well. Lovely place thank you :-)"
SA (September 2023): 4.5 STARS "Location, location, location says it all. We came back and stayed longer!. Location, location, location says it all. We came back and stayed longer! The improvements to the kitchen fittings and refreshing of cutlery are appreciated - love the new clock! There are hints that Wi-Fi is coming and the bathroom is to be modernised, this will make a good holiday property an excellent one. Finally, a word of thanks to STS staff who even took the trouble to advise us that, with cleaning complete, we could access the property early. Good service indeed."
JC (September 2023): 4.2 STARS "Gorgeous views. Lovely property, in a lovely location, fantastic views of the mountains and harbour. In a good central location for local shops and restaurants, try Spooners bar on the harbour , nice food and lovely steam train spotting beer garden. Property needs bathroom update, but this is planned I believe, so once this is done will be perfect. Also very helpful when I contacted them asking for an early check in due to arriving on the train , would book again definitely"
MV (July 2023): 3.8 STARS "Oakley Quay - what a view. Comfortable but basic - shame about shower! (not enough water pressure). Outlook fantastic, third time we have been" Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property Owner.
DS (June 2023): 4.8 STARS "Excellent location will return tomorrow if available, nothing has changed from previous visitors. Enjoyed a week at Oakley Quay amazing location, but needs up graded in the bath room maybe replace the bath with a shower cubical making it easier for access, the bin under the sink still needs replacement the bit of card acting as a bottom fell out all over the floor (NEW BIN has been put into the apartment). Dont see the reason for wi fi as i am on holiday so thats a positive i hope,,,thank you for the stay at the property." Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property Owner.
Property Owner Response 9/6/23: "Thank you for your comments concerning 1 Oakley Wharf. It’s a place we as a family have owned and used regularly since its purchase 40 years ago, so we take your feedback seriously. We have updated and refurbished the flat throughout - with alterations to the bathroom remaining. The builder charged with completing the work unfortunately had an accident and has been unable to start. However, we hope the work should be completed by the end of November 2023. The note about the shower we reacted to immediately. It was a Bank Holiday weekend; we were informed on the Saturday afternoon and had a plumber with a new shower unit on site for Tuesday morning. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. WI-FI is being installed and a new set of outside furniture has been purchased to enjoy sunny afternoons on the terrace. We are looking forward to welcoming you all again and we hope the changes are to your approval. Best wishes. Huw"
SA (May 2023): 4.2 STARS "Good location, needs attention to detail. We keep coming back! We like the location and the flat is always clean and well-presented. However, attention to detail is lacking. Along with other reviewers, I have previously mentioned the broken under-sink refuse bin effectively bottomless, this is unhygienic. (New bin has been put into the apartment) The owner promised last year to provide a replacement but nothing has been done. In a property sleeping four there are only three tea cups and saucers! (There are now 6 tea cups and saucers) Luckily there are seven mugs, albeit in four styles. Last year welcome new cutlery appeared, but there are now only three desert spoons and three soup spoons, plus an odd one (There are now 4 desert spoons and 4 soup spoons). The kitchen clock is not working. I tried a new battery of my own without success. Please get a new clock or at least take the old one away! (We have removed this clock ). The bathroom would benefit from a new suite, fitting modern taps would be an improvement. The bathroom Venetian blind needs replacing or supplementing with something more cheerful, such as a pretty roller blind (This apartment is on the plumbers waiting list to get a new bathroom ). Lack of WiFi was once an irritant but is now a big drawback when staying in this property. Finally, while understandable during the pandemic, guests should no longer be expected to strip the beds on departure" Thanks for your Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property owner for their attention. Please could Guests report issues to us as soon as you can - in many instances, these can be sorted quickly during your holiday.
CB (April 2023): 2.8 STARS "Good Location - shame about the flat. We booked here for a stay over Easter, location is great, nestled in a nice corner of Porthmadog, ideal for exploring the local area, short walk to a beach and various shops. Unfortunately the flat is in need of some modernisation, the bedrooms were tired and hard to warm up, the kitchen had been replaced recently and worked well, the bathroom was in a poor state, on our second day the shower stopped working, we called the agent who responded very quickly, arriving in person to look at the issue but they were only able to advise not to use it. 4 days on an active holiday without the use of a shower was far from ideal. We ended up coming back a day early just so we could get clean. When they sort the bathroom and the bedrooms this will be an ideal flat for a break" Thanks for the Feedback, which are always passed on to the Property Owner for their consideration. Regarding the shower unit, sorry for the inconvenience. It had worked perfectly well for the Guests when they arrived, but then failed and could not be repaired. New shower has been installed over the bath. We were notified of this issue about 5.30pm on the Saturday in the middle of Easter. The Guests were told then that the earliest possible date for a new shower was the Tuesday and they were happy to just have the bath to use. As it happened, the earliest that a new shower unit could be fitted was the Wednesday - and it was fitted then.
SA (September 2022): 4.5 STARS "A good convenient location which we enjoy. Some attention to detail still needed, requires new kitchen bin and outside light, and wifi would be usefu" Thanks for the Feedback - which is passed on to the Property Owner.
JD (August 2022): 3.5 Stars "A lovely spot on the harbour and the flat generally nice, clean and tidy. (Though it did have a musty odour) The main kitchen bin needs replacing though - it currently has a flattened Wheetabix box as the only base, which kept falling out. Think it a bit strange that’s regarded as acceptable. It was also quite a pain having no access at all to WiFi, so wouldn’t recommend staying here if that’s something that’s regularly needed." Thanks for the Feedback. We will gey a ne bin for the kitchen. The Property is advertised as "WiFi: No but many cafes & pubs in Porthmadog have WiFi."
MV (08 Jul 2022): 4.2 Stars "Perfect Location. Flat great our second year here, flat perfectly located, does need a bit of an update but perfectly usable. Does need Wi-Fi."
GL (June 2022): 4.3 Stars "We have stayed at this apartment before as it is in a good location right on the harbourside, with lovely views. The ground floor accommodation and parking space are suitable for elderly relatives. Quiet but within easy walking distance of the shops. Would recommend this place to friends and relatives as there are some nice drives out along the coast on inland into the mountains."
SA (May 2022): 4.5 STARS "An enjoyable stay in a lovely location, STS staff helpful as ever. Flat needs a little attention to detail - patio door curtains need repair or replacement, new under-sink bin needed. Also, it would be nice to have a working clock and a working outside light. In this day and age WiFi should be provided.
Nevertheless, we have booked again for September!"

Mrs L (July 2021): "Great location and views from the apartment however it needs some TLC. Bathroom needs an update and in 2021 Wi-Fi is a necessity. Also inadequate patio furniture. Information on your website is incorrect, no metered electricity and times of entry conflicting. However on reflection holiday was good and weather made it!" The comments have been forwarded on the Owner for his attention. Due to the meter being "out of order", this Guest benefited from free electricity! However, we believe that the meter is working now.
Mr A (May 2021): "We enjoyed our recent holiday"
Mrs W (July, 2017): "Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, the location being perfect for my disabled husband. Wonderful views and yet right in the centre of Porthmadog. Living room/kitchen very high standard but bathroom and carpets in bedrooms could do with attention. Despite this we hope to return next year."

Visit Wales Grade & Comments: November 2019
"Set with harbour and estuary views, this compact apartment offers guests comfortable accommodation in a wonderful setting."
