Guest Feedback:
SD (August 2023): 4.7 STARS
"A little gem! The cottage is in a perfect spot to explore this beautiful and peaceful part of Wales. The owner kindly provided tea, coffee, sugar, milk and Welsh cakes which is thoughtful and most welcome. The cottage was clean and well presented. The garden was perfect for our dogs, sadly the weather didn’t allow us the chance to enjoy it more. The owner was really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and look to return"
AC (July 2023): Excellent "Lovely cottage. Had a wonderful 3 days at Dowlais cottage, beautifully laid out, very comfortable and home from home atmosphere. The owner Jane was so lovely she left us milk, cake and coffee so kind. Location is very good for getting about to great places. All in all great time despite the weather"
TT (July 2023): Excellent "The cottage was really nice and a perfect size for me and my girlfriend. Excellent location for everything. The host was excellent and was extremely accommodating. would he highly recommend."
TC (June 2023): 4.2 STARS "Lovely stay, very clean. We enjoyed our stay, we felt very welcomed. The property was very clean. The bed was very uncomfortable, we did struggle with getting comfortable at night. But other than the bed we had a lovely stay. The garden was lovely and very peaceful" Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property Owner.
RG (June 2023): Excellent "I’m currently sitting on the beach, black rock sands, it’s my last day here, currently gathering my thoughts about our stay, we are boarding at Dowlais Cottage, Llanllyfni the cottage is awesome, the host Jane and her family are truly Lovely people and have made us welcome. The gardens at the rear are amazing, bonus they are all gated. So we know our spaniel is safe. There’s loads of walks for the dog too ! For the whole stay we have used our Lotus BBQ in the rear garden, not relying too much on the modern fully equipped kitchen. There’s lots to do the closest beach is Dinas Dinlle which is only 4 miles away and best of all dog friendly (note that a part of it has a dog ban from 1st April to end of May) and free parking for the whole day. Better still is Black rock sands near Porthmadog 1/2 hour drive, worth every minute, or as us Brumies say Portmadog lol, its a fantastic beach you literally make one payment for parking for the whole day, then drive onto the beach and pitch up next to your car, Its sands are the best I’ve ever seen, no stones and it’s dog friendly too ! Big thank you to Jane and her mum and dad - we will be back, I’ve stayed at loads of cottages spread around the UK, this cottage is by far the way the best for price, beautiful location and best managed. Big Big thank you x"
GU (May 2023): 3.7 STARS "Nice Break. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Accommodations clean and tidy with everything needed for our stay. I will say that a bigger more comfortable bed would have been nice. Dog owners should be aware that there are very few places to walk the dogs locally if you want to exercise your dog off the lead"
BR (October 2022): Excellent "We had a great stay here! Very homely feel and spacious cottage. Warm and very clean. Good shower and appliances . Peaceful location, 20min drive to Caernarfon so a good location. Not much in the village itself but a Co-OP in the next village (3min drive away). Lovely views of the mountains too. Felt very welcomed and good communication with host. Thanks for having us!"
TM (September 2022): 4.8 STARS "Brilliant week in wales. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed spotless very cosy friendly owners gave us some useful advice on places to visit and the best places for eat which we found very helpful which all added to a fantastic week in Wales"
CN (September 2022): 4.8 STARS "Lovely small cottage. We had a great stay at the cottage, Location is good, and the cottage is small but nice and has all the essentials. The private garden is great if you have dogs. It’s only a short drive to the coast and Snowdonia, so there are lots of things to do. We didn’t have any luck with the takeaways (some were closed and others didn’t take orders at that time), but there is a Co op too, so good to stock up on food"
Mr W (September 2021): Excellent "We found Dowlais Cottage to be an excellent base for touring Snowdonia. There was a warm welcome from our host Jayne who proved to both friendly and obliging. The cottage is presented to a very high standard and equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. With parking outside the front door and a small garden at the back for our dogs to run around in we found this to be very convenient. The principal sights of Snowdonia are all within easy reach, there is a small supermarket in the village nearby and plenty of places to eat out in the area. On arrival there was a welcome tray with cakes, coffee and tea along with a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. A nice touch after a long journey. In conclusion Dowlais is a real find and highly recommended."

Mrs H (September 2021): Good "Lovely little cottage, very basic but did the job perfectly. Lovely friendly owners & great fenced garden. Peaceful"
Mr C (31st July 2021): Excellent "So cosy and well organised. Just right for a family like ours"
Mrs C (9th July 2021): Excellent "Beautiful and well presented cottage with lovely courtyard and a shared garden including outdoor seating. Situated along very quiet dead end lane which was perfect for walking the dogs in the morning. All in all a beautiful week."
Mrs S (May 2021): Excellent "STS with the booking, the lovely host Jane and the property were all a definite 5 stars, we were made to feel so welcome. The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfortable and whilst the weather wasn't great there was a stunning garden with bunnies! Jane was so kind and made us feel welcomed, helping us with restaurants to eat etc. Thank you so much STS and Jane too."
Miss E (April 2021): Excellent "What a charming host and lovely cottage. The property is situated central to a whole host of activities, beaches and interesting days out. Tastefully decorated it also has a delightful garden surrounded by open space. The owner welcomed us with some lovely inviting home touches and was very helpful with ideas on local areas of interest. The larger property next door has been superbly refurbished and I would definitely be interested in returning with a larger group. In summary, this was an idyllic few days away and I can't think of a single area of improvement."

Mrs G-E (Sept 2020): Excellent "I just wanted to say what a wonderful week we have just spent at Dowlais Cottage - a beautiful well equipped cottage in an excellent location just a short drive from the sea and also the hills. The cottage was spotless and cosy and was everything we wished for and the host could not have been more helpful or friendly. Many thanks." "The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing week and was cosy and welcoming to return to each day. The onsite owner could not have been more helpful or friendly. The cottage was close to both lovely coastal villages and beaches and within easy reach of the hills as well so we had the best of both worlds. Thank you!"
Mrs M-G (Sept 2020): Excellent "If you're looking for a quiet, nice and welcoming place, this is the one!!!!
We had an absolutely amazing time in Dowlais cottage. It's a beautiful and cozy place to stay, very quiet and peaceful. The owners are absolutely lovely people and we felt welcome all time. Ms B (October 2019): Excellent "The Cottage was superb and situated in a very quiet location, ideal for walking+sightseeing"
Miss B (April 2019): Excellent "Thank you for a lovely holiday in your beautiful little cottage. The cottage its self was perfect inside; clean, modern, warm with a fire and heaters which can be set to suit yourselves and perfectly sized for our small family. We loved how well situated it is also. We managed hiking snowdon, some beach visits, trips to some of the mining museum's and stopped by some of the pretty towns and villages close by. I'm sure we'll see you all again in the future. As we hope to come in a larger group when your larger cottage is ready."
Mrs A (April 2019): Good "Friendly welcome, clean and comfortable cottage. Suitable for a couple with up to one young child. Easy drive to Snowdon."

Comments: "Dowlais Cottage offers guests comfortable represented by the owners accommodation but with rather compact lounge accommodation in al rural setting but close to the village amenities. It offers an upstairs triple bedroom with modern kitchen and well presented bathroom kitchen and lounge on the ground floor. The high standards of housekeeping is a credit to the owners."

1 Easy rise steps into the lounge. Small step up to the back hallway. there is a 10" step into the shower cubicle and a grab rail. Bedroom is upstairs with hand rail on both sides. Parking is on gravelled area to the front of the cottage. Garden is to the side of the property which is gated at one end. Larger garden is shared with the owners and the cottage next door and you are free to use it but please keep the dog on a lead and scoop the poop of course.
