Description

STS Grade 4

Siop Da Da was a Sweetshop and is centrally situated near the High Street, recreational area and harbour in the town of Porthmadog. Comfortably prepared, this terraced family home has spacious rooms and a sunny patio at the rear for al fresco dining. The spacious living room has exposed stone walls a decorative wood burner for a homely ambiance. The newly refitted kitchen is well equipped and leads out to the patio. The bedrooms have Kingsize, double and single beds and there is also the bathroom on the 1st floor. Brilliant for a family or couples alike with these extra conveniences. Tastefully furnished and decorated in a contemporary style, it is only 100m level short walk to the harbourside restaurants and cafes, 200m walk to the High Street and 300m to the Ffestiniog Railway Station. Porthmadog is a great base for a Snowdonia holiday because of its central location being on the coast and only 7 miles from Snowdon mountain. The best local beach is Black Rock Sands (2ml) where it is possible to drive onto the beach, but you can also walk around to the pretty coastal village of Borth y Gest bay and enjoy its sandy coves, rock pools and coastal footpaths. Porthmadog High Street has plenty of eating places, steam trains, yachting harbour, leisure centre and cinema. Portmeirion village is just over the village, Criccieth and Harlech castles just along the coast.

Guest Feedback:
PC (August 2023): 4 STARS
"An enjoyable stay. Conveniently situated for major shops and the railway station. House was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. Maybe it needs highlighting that access round the back is narrow and a good idea to reverse your car down in the first instance"
MJ (August 2023): 2.3 STARS "We have not been impressed with the cottage arrangements and condition. The check in time has been changed at last minute from 4pm to 5pm. When we arrived we could not make the key safe work, although we have the same key safe at home so we definitely know how to use it.Then it was difficult to lock the door as the lock was worn and not working as it should. There was no tea and coffee available in the cottage. For the money we paid for our stay we would expect much better quality of the cottage. Information regarding the cottage facilities was not sufficient. Parking arrangements were very difficult. All in all not the best experience" Thanks for the Review - which are always passed on to the Property Owner. This Booking was made via Cottages.com, they wrongly state arrival after 4pm - we apologise on their behalf. We did inform the Guests that they could arrive early and see if the property was ready. The keysafe is simple to use - they worked it out as they were speaking to us with their problem with the keysafe. It is not advertised as having a Welcome Pack. Everyone else has graded it 4 to 5.
RJ (August 2023): Excellent "I had a lovely few days away. The cottage was just what we needed. I would highly recommend."
LE (July 2023): Excellent "Overall we enjoyed our stay. property was as described and was in a great location. Right near the harbour, a play park and all the shops, cafes etc. The property was clean and well appointed. Rear parking area might be tricky for large cars due to narrow alleyway."
AG (July 2023): 4.8 STARS "Nice stay. This property is simple but clean and well located. My mother, nephew and I had a very nice few days there. Most facilities were available but I would like to suggest some more crockery for the kitchen and some hooks in the bathroom. If you are travelling with people with limited mobility, please note there is a narrow staircase to the bedrooms. Also one step down to the bathroom but with nightlights automatically coming on as you approached it. My mum is almost 90 so we were conscious of this but she managed fine. We parked on the street without any problems so did not use the space in the courtyard. Porthmadog is a lovely little town with local shops and chains, within easy reach of many attractions" Thanks for the Review - which are always passed on to the Property owner for ther attention. We recommend that anyone with mobility issues to read the Access Statement (click on "ACCESS" on the website Property Page and/or to ring STS.
LE (June 2023): 4.5 STARS "Excellent property close to harbour, shops and steam railways. Ideal location close to all amenities with parking space in rear yard. On road parking also available outside the property as parking at rear might be difficult with a large car. House was more spacious than we expected with large sized kitchen and dining area plus comfy sofas for relaxing. There was plenty of space for four adults and two small dogs and the downstairs toilet was an added bonus. The laminate and tiled flooring downstairs made for easy cleaning, especially with dogs and the large hallway was ideal for shoes, coats and beack paraphernalia. Cooking facilities were good with an easy to use induction hob and electric oven. The only criticism we have was the small choice of saucepans, lack of baking trays and microwave suitable bowls as we do like to "self cater". Otherwise there was plenty of crockery, cutlery etc and we tailored our meals to what was available to use. Overall we found this property perfect for our needs and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others and we would happily use it again" Thanks for the Feedback - which are always passed on to the Property Owner.
ET (April 2023): 4.3 STARS "Great base to explore North Wales. We had a great time staying in this property. We're a family of three so had plenty of room to eat, sleep and relax. The property is near the centre of Porthmadog but on a quiet road, so everything, even the supermarkets, can be reached on foot. Better, the independent shops, cafes and pubs are only a couple of minutes away. Further afield, most of the area's tourist attractions are less than an hour's drive away. Only things to note that aren't really covered in the listing are that the staircase is really narrow and the included parking is the patio. We were just about fine in a Vauxhall Corsa but anyone with a larger car might struggle. The kitchen is slightly lacking in some basic equipment or utensils, but such is the nature of a self-catered holiday" Thanks for the Feedback, which are always passed on to the property owners. We will try to find out what utensils are missing and get them to the property. Please report thinks as soon as you can - as it makes it possible to get things sorted out sooner.
RR (June 2022): 3.8 STARS "Superb location. We had a lovely weeks stay thank you . Just a few notes , a small non stick saucepan would be useful please. There was plenty of crockery/mugs and cutlery. The king size bed was very comfortable but could be much improved with quality bedding . We had fabulous weather but we were unable to sit outside at the back to relax or eat due to the extremely uncomfortable outdoor furniture. We ended up buying a pair of fold up chairs !! The cottage location is perfect and we've stayed in Porthmadog many times at various properties . The local Welsh hill and coastal walks are the best !!" Comments passed on to Property owner
PT (May 2022): Excellent"Comfortable cottage in a perfect location. We had a very enjoyable stay in Siop Da Da. The cottage was clean and comfortable and was perfectly located within an easy walk of the shops, pubs and restaurants. Porthmadog harbour with its interesting Maritime museum was only 100 yards away and it was only a short drive / bus ride to the mountains"
The K Family (Jan 2022): “Great place but exceptional warm, we turned the radiators down. Disappointing that the fire wasn't real, if it had been would have 5* all the way. We understand why you wouldn't want people to use it.”
Mr H (Oct 2021): Good "Nice clean property set in perfect location within walking distance of Porthmadog. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely book again."
The H Family (Oct 2021): Excellent "The location could have not been better for our needs. It was clean and every thing in working order. Wish we could have stayed longer but that was not possible this time."
The M Family (Oct 2021): "Fabulous customer service together with a great location and an immaculately clean cottage with all the facilities you could ever want makes this the ideal holiday property."

This is a house on two levels. The bedrooms, bathroom are on the first floor. The lounge/diner, kitchen and utility room/wc are on the ground floor. Off road parking is on the rear, through large gates and on concrete and could be within a few feet of the kitchen door. street outside the front. There are no internal steps on the ground floor. There is a step down and then up to the bathroom and we recommend leaving the landing lights on at night. The staircase to the first floor is in the hallway, is of standard size with 13 steps. The staircase is narrow but there is a handrail on both sides. There are no stair gates, cot or high chair at this property.
