. Idyllic, private and peaceful south facing setting with wooded open views beyond the clear waters of the boulder strewn river Nant Colwyn. Fishing rights for guests. The pond and unfenced river could be a hazard to un-supervised young children. The village, hotels, excellent restaurants & shops are 5 mins. walk, sandy beach at Black Rock Sands 9m through stunning scenery. Portmeirion village and gardens 5 mls for a lovely day out amongst quirky Italianate architecture in magnificent gardens and superb views, meals at the four star restaurant highly recommended. Porthmadog has steam trains, harbour, leisure centre and maritime museum (7 mls).
1 Double bedroom with en-suite shower room, 1 Double bedroom with en-suite WC and hand wash basin. Bed linen provided.

Spacious living area with Sky TV and feature fireplace with electric fire. Steps between living room/kitchen/bedrooms.
Modern fitted units with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Condensing tumble dryer in side room.

Large and natural garden, securely enclosed by the river with gate access.
Off road parking by the main gate 50m from the chalet.
Oil central heating.
ELECTRICITY & OIL:
Oil central heating and hot water is inclusive. Electricity is paid by meter reading with the first £10 inclusive. Charging of Electric Vehicles is PROHIBITED
due to electrocution and fire safety reasons.
For the storage of fishing, climbing, golf equipment etc. Steps between rooms.
The chalet is on three levels. The upper level is where the kitchen and bathroom & WC is situated. There are 3 steps down to the lounge level and three more steps down from the lounge to the bedrooms and to the sunroom. If any one in the party has special needs please read the access statement or speak with a member of staff before booking.
PET: Maximum 2 pets. No puppies please.
EXTRA: EE is the only mobile phone network that will pick up signal in the village. Other networks will pick up signal once outside of the village. There no room in either of the bedrooms for travel cots.
CD (September 2022): 4.3 STARS "A lovely break in a beautiful location. We revisited Beddgelert after a 40 year absence having spent many weekends there in the past. We found the village unspoilt and yet with all amenities for a visitor or tourist. There are plenty of places for evening meals, snacks etc and a tardis of a village shop which sells most things one is likely to have forgotten. The cottage itself, Can yr Afon, is made special by it's location and garden. It is on the edge of the village; just a five minute walk to the centre. One boundary of the garden is the river which changes from peaceful gurgles to roaring depending on how full it is. The garden is full of paths and hidden corners, full of interesting plants. The cottage is well stocked with extras, such as jars of jam in the cupboards. I am a coeliac and was amazed to see a microwave solely for the use of gluten free breads. The beds are comfortable and although the two ensuites are minute, there is a main bathroom with in bath shower. All in all we would recommend it for a relaxing break in a beautiful part of Wales"
RM (September 2022): 3.7 STARS "A spectacular location like no other ! Fabulous location . With tremendous gardens with spectacular river running through . A little run down generally with damp problems in bedrooms" Thanks for the Review - which gets passed to the Property Owner. The property is close to the river and with trees surrounding it - together with maybe condensation, this may cause the "damp problem"?
18th June 2022: 3.8 STARS "Charming quirky cottage . Comfortable base for exploring the area. Walking distance to amenities in the village . Lovely garden and setting . Visitors book would have been nice to see what other guests do/ recommend etc. Loved the art work on the walls ."

"Set in its own extensive mature grounds with a wonderful riverside setting, Can Yr Afon is a detached cottage set offering cosy, if not dated, accommodation having kitchen, spacious lounge with pictures adding to the ambiance, 2 double bedrooms with en suite facilities plus a separate bathroom. Since the last visit there are sealed bathroom light fittings and housekeeping and en suite flooring has improved."
