This end of terrace cottage is in the heart of the Unesco World Heritage site and surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park. It is within walking distance of a local community inn and shops. The cottage has been carefully prepared with comfort in mind. The cottage is in the shadow of Pant yr Ynn mill and its large waterfall. Blaenau Ffestiniog town is at the head of the valley about one mile away with shops, including an artisan baker, other independent shops and two small supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy the mountain biking centre, caving, Zip World’s Bounce Below and Titan zip line. The Ffestiniog steam train regularly travels from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, there is also a British Rail beautiful train-ride from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Conwy, with its castle, and to Llandudno. Porthmadog, about 12 miles drive, is a harbour town with shops and restaurants. The cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the area either on foot or by car. Cynfal Waterfalls are only about a two mile walk and roughly one further mile away are the remains of the Tomen-y-Mur Roman fort and an amphitheatre. About half an hour from Blaenau Ffestiniog is Bala Lake and the National Whitewater Centre. T.W. (Oct 2022) gave a 4.7 stars review:
"Good location, you could leave car parked up and do walks in area and get food locally. We found most things we wanted to do away from area were not much more than 30 minute drives. Never stayed in this area before but i think i would return as good central point. Property had all you needed to enjoy your stay and i would be more than happy to stay here again."
J.W. (Nov 2022) Excellent: "Very comfortable end cottage that warmed up quickly with the central heating. Nothing was lacking to cook, sleep comfortably, wash and have a relaxing sit in the evenings and watch some thing on the smart TV or read in front of the log burner. Very peaceful surroundings and I chose it because I could take walks into the slate environs from the door. My Nissan Note fitted comfortably into the parking slot and I had no issue leaving it there for three nights. It was my fourth consecutive year staying in Blaenau Ffestiniog for an annual photography trip and I think this was the best place so far. Very pleased and may book again."
The G Family (April 2023):
Excellent "Great location as base for Snowdonia. Cozy cottage and nice hiking route behind the cottage."
The M Family (April 2023:

LD (August 2023): 3.5 STARS "
Beautiful location basic accommodation. We really enjoyed our stay. It was wonderful stepping out of your back door and be on the mountainside. The kitchen was adequately supplied, it had good sharp knives and a few essentials. There is no microwave which we missed. The Welsh cakes and pint of milk on arrival were most welcome. Washing machine and tumble dryer really great. If someone is in the shower no-one else can run water as gives person a cold blast. The upstairs ensuite toilet is literally in a cupboard but apart from being noisy does make a useful addition to the property. Comfortable and cosy enough. Perhap a bit expensive for what you get. Down -stairs single bedroom great for young adult who wants a bit of independence as it has it's own front door. Property appeared to be in the process of being decorated and improved definitely some areas still to be done. Under the beds were the empty boxes of flatpack furniture and some clothes left behind by other occupants. The extra pillows were good. The local town of Blaenau Ffestiniog can be reached on foot, approx 15 to 20 minute walk. Several take aways, Co-Op and Morrisons. Only 2 places to eat out at Night, make sure you book. (Indian "Red Chillies" and Queens Hotel). We walked to train station to catch steam train to Porthmadog. Local Zipp World definitely worth a visit, especially for the thrill loving. We also went fishing at Esteddfa fishery Pentrefelin, Criccieth LL52 0PT which provided us with fresh trout to cook for dinner, lovely. We enjoyed the area of Pont y Pair but ran out of Time to explore as much as we wanted to. We will be back...."
MR (September 2023): Excellent "Had a great time staying here with my brother. There is a Co-op close by which was very convenient and 40 minutes by Car to Snowdon!"
