This is a light and airy South Snowdon Wharf villa situated on the popular seaward side of this select development in Porthmadog. It is most comfortably presented with views through the full length picture window towards the harbour and the little quayside marina. The patio door opens from the lounge onto the extended balcony which wraps around 2 sides of the flat, with views of the estuary and Ballast Island and would be lovely place to relax in the evening sun. The villa is on two floors with the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor and the spacious lounge and modern kitchen maximising the views from the first floor. Not far from the Little Ffestiniog Railway station and Spooners Platform Inn, it is within easy walk of the town for a choice of shops, restaurants and scenic walks along the wetlands and Welsh Coastal footpath. Wildlife and railway enthusiasts enjoy this location equally, where steam trains cross the wetlands that attract so many migrant and domestic wild fowl, including an Osprey family in the summer. Nearby you have beaches at Borth y Gest (1ml), which is a 15 min walk away from the harbour, Black Rock Sands (2ml), Snowdon/Beddgelert (7ml) and Caernarfon castle and harbour (23ml). Porthmadog is an excellent all round location with sandy beaches and mountains so close at hand.

Bedroom 1 (Ground Floor): King-size bed with two windows.
Bedroom 2 (Ground Floor): 2 single beds - one single bed is 2' 6". Inside the wardrobe is a Washing Machine.
Bed linen provided, please bring your own towels, tea towels & bath mats.

KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM: Living area with 32" flat screen Smart TV. Electric coal effect fire. Kitchen Area with with electric hob and double oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave.

HEATING: New wall mounted electric heaters installed in 2024.

BALCONY: Extra big which wraps around 2 sides of the villa. It has open balcony rails at 110 cm and 40 cm and no infill. It is not considered safe for children under 7 years old. Patio chairs and table. The ship type ladder should only be used in emergencies - such as a fire downstairs blocking the normal exit route.

SHOWER ROOM/WC: Refurbished in 2024. Now has walk in shower (sit-in-bath has been removed). Electric heater.

Compact washing machine and spin dryer in cupboard in twin bedroom.

The views from the balcony are beautiful, with the boating community playing about in their boats, almost as if for our entertainment. Being railway enthusiasts, the Ffestiniog Railway just a couple of minutes walk away was a real plus. The RAF were seen flying low over the hills on a number of days much to my grandsons enjoyment. We have visited Porthmadog many times over the last 40 years and this years stay was as good as it gets."
SA (April 2025): 4.8 STARS "Relaxing break at Island Views. We had a lovely week at Island Views, very lucky with the weather so were able to sit on the balconies and admire the views which must be the best on the complex.
The property was just as described on the website, in fact the lounge furniture has been updated since the photos were taken. It’s obvious that the owners take great pride in it, the decor throughout was perfect, it felt like a home and not a ‘rental property’. We found it to be very comfortable for the two of us and had everything we needed. The Wi-Fi was good so we had no problem with the TV reception. The kitchen was well equipped with modern easy to use cooker, a dishwasher (we didn’t do a lot of cooking so didn’t use it). There was a washing machine in a cupboard in the twin bedroom but didn’t need to use it. A small pack with a dishwashing tablet, washing machine pod, cleaning cloth etc was a nice touch. It was extremely clean throughout, a credit to the cleaning team. The online booking process with STS was really easy and the instructions for access to the property were clear, I did email over a small issue while we were at the property and their response was very quick and satisfactory. The reason for scoring 4 on comfort was due to the water pressure in the shower, there was a note explaining about the low pressure with it being at sea level, it did make it a bit difficult when washing hair."
We would have no hesitation in booking this property again, we have stayed at a few properties on South Snowdon Wharf over the years and this is one of the best
SM (December 2024): 4.3 STARS "Another lovely week here despite the weather. This was our second Christmas here and it didn't disappoint. The house is warm and cosy with lovely views. The bathroom had been renovated this year and there was new sofa and chairs adding to the comfort. Porthmadog is an excellent base for touring and we went to Caernarfon, Barmouth and Tremadog. There are a number of pubs and restaurants in the town and we took advantage of many of them. For food the Hen Fecws is particularly good and Y Sqwar in Tremadog."

The bed in the main room was very comfortable and it was well equipped, apart from a hair dryer, which I understand is being bought. SW (November 2023): 5 STARS "My husband and I wanted a property with waterfront views for one week to recharge our batteries. This duplex has superb views of Porthmadog harbour . Being an end property you get views from every window. The duplex had everything you need. It was warm and you could get extra boost from the fire in the living room . Cooker was easy to use . Hot water for showers just needed 10 minutes to heat upon. I wasn’t sure what I needed to take , and was very pleased with starter pack dishwasher tablets , washing up liquid and tea towels . (There was also full washing up liquid on the sink) UHT milk in the fridge . Few tea bags and sachets of coffee for arrival. Lots of hand soap and toilet roll. Very nicely presented and clean . Parking for one car directly at door. Easy to understand instructions on key safe . Porthmadog itself is a lovely town . Lots of places to eat. spooners at the top of the harbour by the station a short walk . Did breakfast 9.00am onwards. Out of season for train service, but there was a shuttle to Minffordd (Portmerion) was £2 per adult return . We also ate at “The Port “ cafe very reasonably price and very very tasty. Lots of supermarket nearby. We had day trips to Pwllheli , Criccieth and Aberdaron. Llanberis and Caernarfon."

LA (October 2023): 4.5 STARS "Wales in the wet. This is a wonderful location with views out to sea and the harbour. The beds are very comfortable, WiFi was good. Comfortable lounge. Eclectic mix of cooking utensils and equipment. Plenty of crockery and glassware although the brandy glasses were on the small side! The cooker was modern and easy to use but it had a downside in that the knob for the grill and small upper oven was missing (we discovered it the back of the work service, obviously broken). We reported this to STS but, as they thought, there was no time for a replacement to be found during our stay. Only other negative was the kitchen fan which could do with an overhaul. As the review title implies, it was raining quite a lot but we were always warm and dry and enjoying the view. Great holiday"

It is a short walk from Spooners pub/restaurant, ideal for watching the trains with a refreshing drink. Accommodation is clean & comfortable. The kitchen would benefit from greater range of cooking utensils including larger cooking knives & larger chopping boards. TV is streaming services only, no freeview. Front door has clear glass window, be careful if using the bathroom from 2nd bedroom at night, you don't want to frighten the wildlife! There was a Christmas tree and goodies which made all the difference to our stay.
