Harbour Retreat is a recently refurbished west facing comfortable ground floor apartment overlooking the harbour and river in Porthmadog. It is ideal for guests wanting to refresh their batteries with some sea air. With all rooms on the ground floor and level access to the many shops in Porthmadog the convenience of this property means that it is ideal for guests with difficulty managing stairs. The 10ft wide patio doors in the living room opens the apartment to the ever changing scene of the tide, boats and wildlife before you in the harbour - perfect for relaxation. A short walk from the property will lead you to the Ffestiniog Railway and Welsh Highland railway and the station's popular bar/restaurant. Wildlife walks along the causeway with migrant wetland birds and Ospreys in the summer months. Porthmadog is a great place to stay with plenty of inns, restaurants, cafes, shops, and a leisure centre. Snowdon and Beddgelert (7 miles), Portmeirion Italianate styled village (3 miles). Harlech, a World Heritage Site, with its majestic castle stands 10 miles away. Black Rock Sands beach is 3 miles away. The beach has fine golden sands and stretches for 2 miles with many facilities. Cars can be parked on the beach at a cost of £5/day. Beautiful Borth-y-Gest is a 20 minute walk away.

LIVING ROOM: Fantastic harbour views. Open plan lounge/diner/kitchen.
Living Room - KITCHEN AREA: There is a galley kitchen area with an electric oven & hob, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, cafetiere and Delonghi coffee maker. Please bring your own coffee, tea, sugar etc. There is a dining table with four chairs which guests can pull away from the wall to set up a dining area for 4 people.
Living Room - LOUNGE AREA: Comfortable seating for four, wall-mounted Freeview LED TV with built-in DVD.

GROUNDS: Patio area overlooking the harbour, there are 4 outside chairs and 2 small outside tables kept in the outside cupboard next to the front door which guests can set up on the patio area. The patio area is big open plan area and sections are used by other apartments. There is a path from the patio area that leads that leads to the water.
PARKING: 1 designated parking space outside the apartment.

HEATING: Intelirad electric radiators.
ELECTRICITY included. PLEASE NOTE that the electricity is included only for the facilities provided at the property. Charging of Electric Vehicles is Prohibited due to the risk of fire and electrocution. the closest charging point is at Porthmadog Tesco car park.
WiFi: Yes, fibre-optic WiFi with unlimited download available at 38 Mbps.
PETS: 2 dogs welcome. Please bring your own dog towels.
EXTRA: Hairdryer, iron and ironing board.

NEW for 2023 Holiday Season: The owners of this apartment highly value guest feedback and have worked hard to make several improvements based on it to enhance the apartment's overall experience. Here is a summary of the upgrades from January 2023:
1) Installation of a new pressurised boiler, which has made the walk-in shower even better!
2) New spring mattresses for the double bed and 1 single bed, bedding & towels.
3) installing window blinds in Bedroom 1.
4) New rug and TV/storage unit in the Living Room - Lounge Area.
5) New microwave & cafeteria in the Living Room - Kitchen Area.
6) Construction of a new step leading from the Patio Area up to the Living Room Patio Door .

We came for a last minute 3 night getaway on 2nd Jan till Friday 5th & was very impressed with our stay & the accommodation was lovely. Was very cosy & comfortable & well equipped with all you needed. We all slept well & was very comfortable. Even the dog felt at home & loved the outside space. The shower was good but the bathroom was a bit small & water literally got everywhere when showering so you had to mop it all down afterwards. We did have a little leak too under the sink but we informed the company about it & it didn't affect our stay. We will definitely try come back again in the warmer weather as the area was such a lovely place to visit & I'm sure the views all around will be amazing in the spring or summer. DT (September 2023): 4.7 STARS "Relaxing stay. Just had a lovely few days at the Harbour Retreat. Lovely outlook of the harbour from the patio doors and the window in the dining area. It's close to the town and we recommend the Port Cafe for breakfast just a short walk and it is dog friendly. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need. The only downside was that the double bed was not that comfy but thumbs up otherwise"

It is definitely not big enough for 4 adults and a dog. The wet room is all style and no substance, and the squeegee provided for the floor is useless. Kitchen space is very limited and cramped. PT (July 2023): 4.7 STARS "Lovely relaxing apartment. Lovely apartment, it’s was our third stay there. Wonderful view . Only one complaint, there are Marley tiles through the apartment an d it has either been polished or sealed, which I found was very slippery and kept slipping. SS (June 2023): 4.7 STARS "A perfect scenic spot for a relaxing holiday. The apartment is in a beautiful place with views over the harbour and estuary with the mountains in the background. It is very convenient for the Festiniog railway and shops are a short walk away. There are many lovely places to visit within a brief drive away including beaches and mountains. The apartment was clean and well equipped and it was lovely to open the patio doors and step out onto the edge of the harbour to walk our dog and look at the views"

Spent a lovely week at Harbour Retreat, the view was amazing, had only been there a day and felt we had been there weeks, so relaxing, my grandchildren had a fantastic time, plenty to do and see, visited Green Wood in Caernarfon, well worth it, Rabbit Farm in Criccieth, crabbing over the harbour wall, and of course the beach at Blackrock Sands. The apartment was lovely, very clean on arrival and well equipped, beds very comfortable, just a heads up to take a bath mat, the bathroom tends to get a little flooded from the shower not draining quick enough, Enjoyed our stay so much will be looking to re book next year,"

It was spotlessly clean with everything you could need and even had a washing machine/tumble dryer. It also had a fogging machine which we used every day to keep the surfaces clean and germ-free. It is in a really good place with a brilliant view of the harbour and very close to the high street and literally minutes walk away from the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway. We used it as a base to travel to lots of different locations; Caernarvon Castle, Pwllheli, Portmeirion, Conwy, Black Rock Sands and Harlech. It was also a bonus to have a car parking space allotted to the property. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and would love to go back in the future sometime. *Also, a very dog-friendly place with most pubs etc. allowing you to take your dog inside. (The apartment will allow you to take your dog to stay with you)."
Mrs W (September 2021): Excellent "Just returned from two weeks. The apartment is very well equipped and has great views from every window. The kitchen area is small so a little bit of juggling required if cooking a meal. Had a couple of small issues on arrival but these resolved swiftly by STS and the lovely owners. One word of warning though-, the hob goes into automatic child safety mode when switched on and takes around 5 minutes before the lock releases to be able to use the hob.

ACCESS STATEMENT

This is a ground floor apartment with the front door situated approx. 10 yards away from the allocated car parking space. Whilst the accommodation is all level throughout there are two small steps at the front door (and also at the patio door) and this coupled with restricted width would not prove suitable for wheelchair users.

All rooms open off a hallway which runs left to right inside the front door.

The bedroom has bedside lights in addition to the main ceiling light and power points at skirting board level. The wet room has wash basin, WC and an electric shower with a safety hand rail.

The sitting room has additional lighting, TV and DVD with remote controls. In the galley kitchen points are at working top level.

Heating is by way of thermostatically controlled electric Intellirad wall mounted radiators.
