AT (October 2023): 4.5 STARS
"The 39 Steps. t's often difficult to find rental properties for 2 people but this one is ideal as long as the 39 outside steps are not a problem for you. Very well equipped with everything needed but not too much for the small space. Views over the estuary and the Ffestiniog station are glorious and the selling point for the property. Comfortable inside and we would certainly consider returning" Our Access Statement states, 'Access to the second floor flat is gained by three flights of stairs (there is no lift). The first flight consists of 14 steps to the first floor landing. The second flight to a half landing consists of 7 steps and then a further 7 steps to the second floor landing. There is a continuous handrail on one side to the second floor.
AS (April 2023): Excellent "Fantastic! I can't fault this wonderful apartment that has everything you need for a great stay. The apartment itself is perfect for 2 people (and a wee dog). It is comfortable, quiet and very convenient for the town. It has the most stunning views from the living room and balcony across the estuary (you can see Harlech Castle opposite if you use the binoculars provided) even the bedroom window at the back has a view of the harbour and also you can see the steam engines being refuelled. From the front you can watch the trains puff in and out of the station all day. Porthmadog itself is a lovely wee town and the area around it is absolutely stunning. We will definitely be back. Also STS holidays were great to deal with. Xxx"
CW (February 2023): 4.8 STARS "Lovely flat with great views. It was my second time in this flat. The views are amazing even on a rubbish day.It was February after all.The flat is well equipped and contains most things you could need. There is plenty of birdlife to watch I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them go about their business and as you are high up they don't notice you and the town is busy with locals and tourists alike.I'll live there if anyone gives me the chance! I only gave it one less point for condition as there was expanding foam untrimmed on the balcony that I kept catching my foot on but I'm sure as it is winter it was just waiting to be finished. All in all a nice place. Thanks" Thanks for the Feedback - which is passed on the Property Owner - who he believe to already has the foam on his list.
CW (November 2022): 4.7 STARS "Lovely view. The flat was clean and comfortable, warm with heaters and blankets.Ideal for two people .The view was lovely whatever the weather and the wildlife ,tides and weather provide constant change and interest. I would definitely visit again"
AM (August 2022): 4 STARS "Estuary view is in a stunning location with outstanding views from the balcony of the estuary, mountains and the steam railway. Perfectly situated next to the harbour with shops, restaurants and pubs within a few minutes walk. I would definitely recommend Spooners, sitting in the evening next to the station watching the last of the steam trains coming in and out whilst having a drink is not to be missed.
The apartment itself whilst small has everything you could need, there are also lots of thoughtful extras such as binoculars, books and dvds. As the area is in a private complex with no through traffic at night it was very quiet with no noise and the bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in! A parking space located next to the apartment was an added bonus. All in all a fantastic holiday and a place I will definitely return to."

JB (July 2022): 4.5 STARS "Room with a view. Stayed also for a beautiful week in September 2021. We love the views over the estuary with the changing tides and colours. Apartment well equipped and ideal for two people. Plenty to do in the area, the beaches are amazing if that's your thing. Will definitely be back."

MS (02 Jul 2022): Excellent "Quality apartment in superb location. Estuary View Apartment is small but is an excellent apartment in a superb location. it was wonderful to sit watching the birds, the views, the trains, and the ever-changing estuary light. the quality furnishings made it the most comfortable apartment we've stayed in. it was well equipped with good quality crockery, cutlery, pans etc, lots of books, dvds, local attraction leaflets etc to make our stay comfortable. there was wifi but it was a bit slow and slightly temperamental at times. but we were so delighted with the apartment that we have booked for next year!"

GC (May 2022): Excellent "Ticked all the Boxes. Great place ina great location. As I said in the review title it ticked all the boxes for us!! Credit to the team"
Mrs B (Sept. 2021): Excellent "A lovely comfortable apartment, small but well equipped with everything we needed. Fabulous view of the estuary from the balcony and enjoyed watching the steam trains chuntering up and down the line."

Mrs K (September 2021): poor "The apartment had lovely views from the balcony, however the accommodation itself was poor. It was tiny, with inadequate kitchen that would be impossible to cook in, with no work surfaces and not a baking tray in sight. The fixtures and fittings are tired and needs an overhaul. The steps leading up to the apartment are dangerous. Porthmadog lacks any good places to eat." We believe that the pictures on our website show the kitchen accurately. We will pass on the comments to the Property Owner for their consideration. The steps would have been built to the standards current at the time of construction. In general, care must be taken when using all steps etc. In our opinion, good places to eat in Poerthmadog include the Hen Fecws & Sima Tandoori that we go to ourselves. We have also had a good report from The Glaslyn Tandoori. At Borth y Gest we would personally recommend The Moorings. At Tremadog: Y Sgwar and The Golden Fleece. Also, last but least, great food at Portmeirion.

Very good apartment for 2 people - clean, compact, with everything required. 3 flights of steep concrete steps lead to this top floor flat - not a problem for most people I'm sure, but could be a problem for some, so needs to be born in mind . Location is excellent with views over the Cob and Ffestiniog Railway, and within easy walking distance of the town. We will certainly stay in this apartment again if available when we return to Porthmadog as long as the price is reasonable.

Estuary View was a lovely place to stay! The views are absolutely stunning! Lovely to just sit and watch the wide variety of wading birds peck around in the sand when the tides out. Perfect location for any steam train enthusiasts with the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways Porthmadog station only a 5 minute walk away (the end of the platform can be seen from the balcony!) It’s lovely to be able to see the trains come steaming across the cob from the apartment! A trip on both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways is a must whilst staying in the area! The apartment itself is perfect for either a solo stay or for couples. It was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Other reviews have commented on the size of the kitchen being too small, it is on the small side but we found it more than adequate for just two people. One thing to be aware of with the property is there is 2 flights of concrete stairs to gain access to the property (the apartment is in a block of 3 floors and Estuary View is on the top floor) if you struggle with your mobility a bit you might find the stairs a little bit of a struggle (there’s a handrail on the staircase but only on the left hand side as you go up). Overall we had a lovely stay at Estuary View, it’s the perfect location with stunning Estuary views and yet it’s still in a nice central location being only a 5-10 walk away from the shops and eateries on Porthmadog high street!

Important information : The concrete steps up to the flat have narrow treads and are steep - in three flights with a solid handrail - but could be challenging to less sure footed folk, especially when carrying luggage/shopping up and down. Having stayed in various properties on South Snowdon Wharf over the past 50 years we knew about the outside access to the upper story flats and felt we would be able to manage them with care.
