Description

STS Grade 4
The 'Crow's Nest' is a comfortable well-furnished apartment occupying the entire top floor of a period house. It has superb bird's eye views overlooking the harbour, Glaslyn estuary & the Snowdonia mountains. It has its own access up a single flight of external stairs from the attractive shared rear garden and is discretely private. It's only a five minute walk down the hill (a little longer back up) into Porthmadog and its historic harbour for excellent shops, cafes, steam train rides and maritime museum. It takes a little longer to walk back up the hill to the apartment. A 15 minute walk along in front of the house takes you to Borth y Gest half a mile away, with it's harbour, cafes and beautiful sandy coves reached along the coastal path beyond the village. The vast sandy beaches at Morfa Bychan's Black Rock Sands and the crescent sands of Samson's Bay are 2 miles away. Snowdonia mountains are as close as 5ml, Beddgelert and Snowdon (7ml), Criccieth Castle (3ml). The famous italianate village of Portmeirion with it's and gardens, beaches and woodland walks is just two miles away. There is a good leisure centre on the other side of the town, near Tesco, with a swimming pool, tennis, badminton, squash courts and a cafe. The apartment has uninterrupted views down to the steam train station and you can sit and watch the trains crossing the Cob on their journey up to Ffestiniog. The Highland Railway is fully restored for a highly scenic journey to Beddgelert, through the spectacular Aberglaslyn Gorge and on up to Caernarfon. This is a good central location for a holiday property in North Wales.

JS (September 2022): 4.8 STARS
"A fabulous view from the lounge and bedroom made the apartment an ideal place to relax, read and watch the world go by, the apartment was clean and comfortable, nice added touch the owners left some treats on our arrival. Ideally situated for coastal walks, exploring tourist attractions and the town centre was in walking distance. We would definitely stay again. Our only criticism was the garden looked neglected and had so much potential." Thanks for the Review - which is passed on to the Property Owner.

Visit Wales Comments (February, 2016):
"Crow's Nest provides a comfortable standard of accommodation for 4 people and is maintained to an overall good standard of decor, furniture and fittings. This flat must have the best views in Porthmadog, overlooking the town and estuary up tp Snowdon plus the mountains down to Harlech."
Overall quality percentage: 69.71%

The Crow's Nest has its own private access via an external flight of steps that lead from the car park that has been constructed at the head of hill Street just for crows nest patrons. The car park and access through the floral garden leading to the crows nest are illuminated by both automatic light sensors and ornamental lamps. The Crow's Nest accommodation is situated all on one floor, and due to its elevated location has breathtaking views that few other holiday homes can be compared to. Access through a stable door into the second bedroom. There are areas in the flat that have reduced height ceilings and sloping roofs. Notably the WC.

No children under the age of 7. Thank you. This is due to outside steps/access from garden not being suitable for young children. The day bed is only suitable for a small child of up to 5 foot.
