Dowlais & Zig Zag Cottages can accommodate up to 7 guests in Zig Zag Cottage (ZZC) and additional 2 adults & 1 child in Dowlais Cottage (DG). The living accommodation in Zig Zag is large enough to accommodate all guests. Caringly prepared they are a great place from where you can enjoy the mountains and the beaches of Snowdonia. Your pet dogs are welcome too, with plenty of walks from the doorstep just outside the village of Llanllyfni, 7 miles from Caernarfon and 10 miles from Porthmadog. Situated near the begining of the Nantlle Ridge, a local challenge of mountain ridges between Snowdon and the Sea. Snowdon itself is 8.6 miles away and the closest carpark and path up the highest mountian in Wales is at Rhyd Ddu . The cottages are only 5.2 miles from the award winning sandy beach at Dinas Dinlle. Caernarfon town (7 mls) has plenty of shops and places to eat down 'Hole in the Wall' street which is adjacent to the magnificent castle standing guard on the harbourside. Llanberis (12 mls) is another must do with steam trains going up Snowdon from the village and footpaths acending it's lofty heights. Lots to do in the area from visiting Wetland reserves, indoor climbing centre, walking on the beach or climbing mountains. This cottage is near to one of the new UNESCO World Heritage sites for 'Wales Slate' - Nantlle Valley Slate Quarry Landscape. Recommended area for easy access to Snowdonia, Lleyn peninsula and Anglesey.
In Dowlais Cottage (2012):-
1 BEDROOM: 1 double bed and 1 day bed (single bed size), this bedroom is on the 1st floor. We recommend this bedroom is for 2 adults and 1 child.
SHOWER ROOM/WC: Shower cubicle, wc and hand wash basin on ground floor .
KITCHEN BREAKFAST ROOM: Modern fitted kitchen with electric cooker, fridge and microwave.
LOUNGE: Lovely and cosy with flat screen tv/DVD with freeview chanels, electric wood burning stove fire.
CENTRAL HEATING & ELECTRICITY: Inclusive. Timed electric heaters.
FRONT GARDEN AREA: Next to the front door there is an enclosed gravel area with outside table & chairs, this area is enclosed.
BACK GARDEN: A larger shared garden with outside sitting area is available, shared with Zig Zag Cottage. This area is also enclosed.
PARKING: Room for parking in front of the cottage
TOWELS: At this time , due to Covid regulations, we are asking Guests bring their own TOWELS and TEA TOWELS.
WIFI: Yes and unlimited.
In Zig Zag Cottage (ref 2013) next door:-
4 BEDROOMS (On the 1st floor): 1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin, and 1 Single bedroom.
(On ground floor via internal staircase or external access): 1 Double Bedroom with EN-SUITE SHOWER ROOM/WC. Cot also available if requested when booking.
SHOWEROOM/WC: Upstairs with shower.
KITCHEN (on the 1st floor): Well-equipped, modern fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, induction hob and electric oven, fridge, microwave and dishwasher.
LOUNGE (Ground floor): Magnificent living room with vaulted ceiling, wood-burning stove , flat screen freeview TV, DVD. Comfy corner suite and sofas and a pool table.
DINING ROOM (On the 1st floor): Open-tread stairs to 1st floor and large balcony over the lounge prepared as a spacious galleried dining room.
GARDEN: Small enclosed patio with garden furniture and access to a larger shared garden that connects with a gate to Dowlais Cottage front garden.
PARKING: Ample parking by the front door.
HEATING: Timed electric wall heaters. Initial supply of logs included.
WiFi: Yes, free of charge.
LINEN: Yes (Please confirm bedding arrangements beforehand)
TOWELS: At this time, due to Covid regulations, we are asking Guests bring their own TOWELS and TEA TOWELS.
EXTRA: Washer/Dryer available for use on request.
EXTRA: Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please note there is an open tread staircase from the lounge to the mezzenine. Store room for cycles (By arrangement with the owner).
PETS: There is a £20 Pets Charge for each dog, in total there can be up to 6 dogs.
Mini-break rules: This property will allow mini-breaks within 31 days before the start date of the holiday in the School Holidays & Bank Holiday weeks. However, outisde of this time this property will accept mini-breaks within 56 days before the start date of the holiday.

Miss E (April 2021): (Dowlais): "What a charming host and lovely cottage. The property is situated central to a whole host of activities, beaches and interesting days out. Tastefully decorated it also has a delightful garden surrounded by open space. The owner welcomed us with some lovely inviting home touches and was very helpful with ideas on local areas of interest. The larger property next door has been superbly refurbished and I would definitely be interested in returning with a larger group. In summary, this was an idyllic few days away and I can't think of a single area of improvement."

If you continue you will notice that during the next booking steps this will automatically be selected for you and the price will increase, so simply de-select them on the bookings screen if you already have holiday insurance or if you do not want any cover.
The Pet Charge for all properties accepting pets is £20 per pet.
After your stay, we ask you kindly to please leave the property as it is found, in a clean and tidy manner. This includes replacing the furniture if you have moved them, emptying all internal bins, clean and put away plates etc., clean work tops and surfaces and hoover the floors.
No Smoking: We want all our guests to enjoy an odour free environment when they arrive at their property. We therefore prohibit smoking within the premises in ALL our properties. A 'Refreshing Charge' will be levied on guests who smoke in properties. A No Smoking Policy may form part of a property's statutory Fire Risk Assessment.
Mini-breaks & Weekends: In most cases, bookings that are for less than 7 nights in the season (Easter to the end of October) are only bookable at short notice. Out of season (November to last week before Easter) is more flexible. The mini-break rules for each property is stated on the description. Weekend booking requests that do not start or end on a property's change-over day or cross over more than 1 week, are at the discretion of the property owner.
