Built in 1886, Minafon is a grand stone house in an elevated position in the village of Bontddu ( 'Black Bridge') 5 miles from the Seaside town of Barmouth and just over 4 miles from the Historic town of Dolgellau. In this double fronted semi-detached house there are 2 lounges, a separate dining room, a good sized kitchen, 4 spacious bedrooms, a huge bathroom and 2 additional loos. To the rear, there is a large terraced garden (merging into woodland beyond) with furnished areas for relaxing and al fresco dining, making it a great place for family get-togethers. To the front, a smaller garden is bounded by a stone wall on the other side of which flows the Afon Cwm Llechen shortly before it joins the Afon Mawddach. Minafon's location in the southern part of the National Park provides an excellent base for exploring Snowdonia's towering mountains, huge forests, rushing rivers, crystal clear lakes and a plethora of attractions that cater for visitors of every afe and ability. Situated close to the main route (and excellent bus service) along the Mawddach estuary, Minafon nontheless provides a peaceful haven for those who wish to be far from the madding crowd. A few things 'on the doorstep' are: Just across the Mawddach estuary - Cade Idris mountains - for a great days climbing or mountain biking. Behind the house- the ancient hilltop stage coach roads and drovers routes through heathland. 4 miles up stream -the old county town of Dolgellau, a compact historic town on the banks of the river Wnion with its distinctive black stone houses, hidden away inns and old gaols (now restaurants). 5 miles down the road- Barmouth with soft sandy beaches, a few amusement rides, great places to eat and antique shops. 15 mins drive (12 miles) - mountain bike centre at Coed y Brenin. 30 mins drive (24 miles) - 'Titan' Zip Wire and Bounce Below at Blaenau Ffestiniog. 40 mins drive (27 miles) - National White Water Centre at Bala.

TV ROOM with comfy 3-seater and 2-seater sofas, (Seating for 5). Smart TV, Freesat DVR, DVD and gas coal effect fire.
KITCHEN Large range oven with 5 electric ring hob, double ovens and grill. Fridge/freezer, additional fridge, washer-dryer, and microwave.
DINING ROOM Large dining table seating 8, dresser and flame effect electric fire (fan heater).
WC: Downstairs outside loo (in boiler room adjacent to kitchen door.)
4 BEDROOMS: 2 large bedrooms with double beds, 1 bedroom with twin beds, 1 bedroom with bunk beds that are 3' wide but only suitable for children up to 16 yrs.
BATHROOM/WC elevated sunken bath, shower cubicle electric shower, and hand wash basin. A plastic chair is provided for use in the shower (if required).
SEPARATE WC with hand wash basin.
GARDEN & GROUNDS: Terraced, naturalised garden, secure from the road but NOT enclosed or separated from woodland to the rear of the property. Sheltered bench and large table with chairs for al fresco dining. Some care required with adventurous dogs. Separate garden at the front is not enclosed.
PARKING: For 2 cars. One inside the garden gate. One outside the garage door. There are also parking bays a little further up the road that can be used.
GARAGE: for bike storage and canoe by arrangement.
ELECTRICITY & HEATING: The property is centrally heated by oil fired boiler, with separate electric fires and one gas fire.
LINEN: Yes
TOWELS: -At this time, due to Covid regulations, we are asking Guests bring their own TOWELS and TEA TOWELS.
PETS: Yes. No restriction on number (Subject to STS Pet Policy). Not allowed in bedrooms (stair gate provided).
WIFI:Yes. Included.
COT AND HIGHCHAIR: Both are available but no bedding provided. (A stair gate is available for bedroom doorway if required).

If you continue you will notice that during the next booking steps this will automatically be selected for you and the price will increase, so simply de-select them on the bookings screen if you already have holiday insurance or if you do not want any cover.
The Pet Charge for all properties accepting pets is £20 per pet.
After your stay, we ask you kindly to please leave the property as it is found, in a clean and tidy manner. This includes replacing the furniture if you have moved them, emptying all internal bins, clean and put away plates etc., clean work tops and surfaces and hoover the floors.
No Smoking: We want all our guests to enjoy an odour free environment when they arrive at their property. We therefore prohibit smoking within the premises in ALL our properties. A 'Refreshing Charge' will be levied on guests who smoke in properties. A No Smoking Policy may form part of a property's statutory Fire Risk Assessment.
Mini-breaks & Weekends: In most cases, bookings that are for less than 7 nights in the season (Easter to the end of October) are only bookable at short notice. Out of season (November to last week before Easter) is more flexible. The mini-break rules for each property is stated on the description. Weekend booking requests that do not start or end on a property's change-over day or cross over more than 1 week, are at the discretion of the property owner. Please feel free to call us to discuss your requirements.
Access Statement: Onsite parking on the drive for 2 cars (with a level footpath to the back door) & additional parking bays a little further up the road. Access to the front door from the lane is up 3 steps. The rear garden is terraced and only accessed up a spiral stair case or a steep stepped path from the car parking space. Neither of these are suitable for persons with mobility problems. Living rooms downstairs and bedrooms and bathroom/wc is upstairs. Elevated sunken bath in the bathroom has steps but can be easily accessed from floor level. It has no hand rails. Downstairs there is an outside loo.
