This is another rare opportunity to stay in a charming detached stone cottage in secluded woodland surrounded by 5 acres of its own land. Situated in an elevated position 5.5 miles by road from Maentwrog village. The area enjoys magnificent mountain and valley views of Snowdonia. It is very comfortably furnished and a log fire gives it a warm and cosy atmosphere. Ample walks from the doorstep - this is a naturalist or artists' dream location. 40 min walk to Maentwrog and 'The Grapes', 12miles to Porthmadog and Harlech to lovely sandy beaches, golf courses, steam train rides, shops. There are excellent mountain bike trails through the forest at Coed y Brenin. Situated separately in its own grounds and own drive is this 'The Woodland Barn' which is 100 m away from the Woodland Cottage (our ref 5003) and set lower down the hill. Both properties are private from one another. The barn is secluded by trees from the main house and has its own private drive area. It is surrounded by 5 acres of its own natural grounds and with access to the managed working forest of 150 hectares. There are three unfenced ponds about 100m from the barn in the grounds, making it unsuitable for an unsupervised young child. The barn was recently refurbished to a high standard. A lovely retreat for two after a good day walking in Snowdonia.

ELECTRICITY & GAS: Electricity, central heating and gas included.
EXTRA: Borehole water supply to the cottage is filtered and UV treated. Access is along a 2.5 ml unsurfaced trackway with some potholes so we recommend that low ground clearence cars take the route slowly.

WiFi: Customer Feedback, Mr R (July 2019): "Hi, just thought you might like to know, simply to update your literature, but we can get a very decent phone signal here, at least on 3 and Vodafone, both 3g and 4g. Would be useful for future visitors as I would have brought a laptop with me if I thought there would be a chance of a connection in the cottage."

If you continue you will notice that during the next booking steps this will automatically be selected for you and the price will increase, so simply de-select them on the bookings screen if you already have holiday insurance or if you do not want any cover.

The Pet Charge for all properties accepting pets is £20 per pet.

After your stay, we ask you kindly to please leave the property as it is found, in a clean and tidy manner. This includes replacing the furniture if you have moved them, emptying all internal bins, clean and put away plates etc., clean work tops and surfaces and hoover the floors.

No Smoking: We want all our guests to enjoy an odour free environment when they arrive at their property. We therefore prohibit smoking within the premises in ALL our properties. A 'Refreshing Charge' will be levied on guests who smoke in properties. A No Smoking Policy may form part of a property's statutory Fire Risk Assessment.

Mini-breaks & Weekends: In most cases, bookings that are for less than 7 nights in the season (Easter to the end of October) are only bookable at short notice. Out of season (November to last week before Easter) is more flexible. The mini-break rules for each property is stated on the description. Weekend booking requests that do not start or end on a property's change-over day or cross over more than 1 week, are at the discretion of the property owner. Access Statement

The barn was converted into a small self-catering bungalow in 2003. Approach is up a long forest track, maintained but with some pot-holes, 2.5 miles from the main road. It is situated in a 5-acre meadow accessed through a 5-barred gate off the track, with hard standing near the gate for acar just in front of the house.The front door has a doorway of approx. 82 cms width and there is an additional porch door giving directly on to the living room. Apart from the initial entrance step into the house, the house is level throughout.There is a large living room with kitchen and dining areas and an open fireplace. Internal doorways are 74 cms wide.

The double bedroom and bathroom both lead off the living room. Walls are painted in pale colours and the window frames, doors and skirting boards are all wood stained. Lighting in the living room is good with several overhead lights and various standard and table lamps. Light switches are at approx. 114 cms height with electric sockets at 48 cms.The kitchen area sockets are at worktop level. The TV has a remote control and there is a CD player and radios but no landline phone and no WiFi.Mobile reception is not always great, but you can get very good reception by walking up the track a few yards towards the cottage above.The bathroom has a walk-in shower, with one step up into it, and the washing-machine/tumble dryer is also housed in here.Immediately outside the front door there is a small patIo area with two chairs and a small table.
