STS Grade 4

This cottage is a clever conversion of what was originally the detached stables of a 17th century farmhouse in Cricieth. It is now a two storey building, comfortably furnished and finished to a high standard throughout. Living accommodation is on the first floor to take advantage of the countryside views across the fields to Snowdonia. The living room has a clean and airy feel with two large sofas for lounging. Two of the spacious bedrooms have en-suite facilities in addition to the shared shower room - ideal for families who want to quickly freshen-up after coming in from the beach or a long mountain walk. There is a private garden to the rear of the property, with access to the fields for walks or just to admire the views. The beach and town are just a few minutes walk away (250m) where there are restaurants and shops. Locally there is Cricieth Castle, the Lloyd George Museum in Llanystumdwy and an open farm. A short drive to Porthmadog (5 mls) for steam train rides, Portmeirion village, maritime museum, and leisure centre. 10 miles to Pwllheli for a weekly market or 15 miles to the pretty seaside village of Abersoch and riding stables. Beddgelert village at the foot of Snowdon and the heart of Snowdonia is a 12 mile drive away through dramatic scenery.

Guest Comments:
Mrs B (August, 2018):
Neutral "Overall a nice property but let down by a couple of practical issues. For a family with young children it would make much more sense to have a double bedroom upstairs and the twin room downstairs (so that parents can stay up, chat and relax without waking up any children immediately off the living area). The kitchen was good, however there were no sharp knives and no knife sharpener. This made it very difficult to prepare food."
Mr A (August, 2018):Excellent"The property was nicely located, in a quiet, secluded area and was in clean condition. Most things we needed were provided. The few things lacking were adequate bedding for the time of year. A thick duvet at the height of a hot summer? Being located on the owners land, it would have been nice to have met them, but this never happened."
Mrs S (August, 2018):Excellent"Property in a good location. Plenty of room for the family, well equipped and clean. Quiet location with views of fields and sheep. Downstairs the bedrooms got a little damp but that may have been down to the weather the week we stayed. It was quite a wet and muggy week."
Mrs P (June, 2018):Excellent"The cottage has everything you need. It's spacious, it's spotless and comfortable. Lovely surroundings - we really enjoyed the holiday. Would go again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you!"
Mr & Mrs S (May, 2018): Excellent"Nicely positioned, quiet property."
N, M & Tribe: "Everything about the cottage is great, warm, comfortable and plenty of room for all of us. Out everyday either walking or at the beach. We have had a fantastic time, we will definitely book again!!"

Visit Wales Comments:
"Overall a tidy cottage with excellent housekeeping levels throughout. This cottage is located at the rear of the owners property and has a first floor open plan lounge/diner/kitchen."
