Fishing Lodge near CaernarfonRef: 2003
Discretely situated down a quiet lane and private drive is this impressive fishing lodge. Hidden behind the quirky castellation frontage is a spacious single storey holiday home with picture windows and patio doors overlooking the river, weir and salmon/trout pool. The capacious lounge and delightful dining room are very comfortably furnished with contemporary furniture. Though partly dating from the 18th century, the house mostly maintains a modern feel, providing a home from home for the more discerning guest. Set in the countryside just a mile outside the harbour town of Caernarfon, it stands apart from its neighbours behind tall walls, surrounded by 1/2 an acre of enclosed land with the river running along one boundary, in a peaceful and seemingly secluded setting. The views of the impressive river Seiont as it meanders through the woodland is a naturalist's delight - otters, herons and goosanders are regular visitors and binoculars are a must. From the doorstep it is possible to walk along the river to Roman Segontium, or through the recreational park opposite and via the excellent cycle path (1/4 mile) to the Welsh Highland Steam Railway station, Caernarfon castle, harbour and the town itself, with its variety of inns, restaurants and shops - all one mile away. Ideally situated for the sandy beach at Dinas Dinlle (6 miles) and only 8 miles from Snowdon. Other local attractions include Gypsy Wood Park, go-karting, golf, horse riding, watersports and climbing centres. Supermarket and takeaway 1/2 mile. The garden immediately surrounding the property is fenced, however unrestricted access to the river means the main garden is not suitable for unsupervised children.

S J & M (May, 2018): "Wow a wonderful week in North Wales...
Of all the views of nature
This is one at it's peak.
The river gurgled in the mornings
Heron and dipper in our view
The jays, the robins and lots of tits
Then a nuthatch joined us too.
Alas, no sight of an otter
Though saw woodpeckers every day
Having a feast upon the nuts
What a way to holiday in May..........
We have visited the mountains, and an island one or two,
But we absolutely loved returning, and coming back to see this view.
It has revived our spirits, we've loved breathing soft clean air..........
This quaint and quirky bolt hole, that privides a perfect view,
We have simply loved it, and hope that you will too."
S, R & N (October, 2017): "Paradise! What a beautiful lodge. So quiet and stunning views, so much wildlife. First time I have ever seen an otter [actually saw 3] and I saw my first shooting star! Nancy loved her walks. Such a relaxed and chilled stay."
C & A (September, 2017): "What a fantastic cottage, had all you would need, home from home, thanks for letting us share your holiday home - much appreciated. Seen the heron but no otters, unfortunately caught no fish, but did try! It was wonderful listening to the water bubbling over the rocks, could not ask for a better location. Lodge was well equipped, don't think you have forgotten to cater for anything. Lots of great wildlife from the dining room window. Looking over the weir we have not seen a better view in all our lives, what fantastic scenery. Thank you so much."
