ACCESS STATEMENT
The topography of the area is such that access for persons with walking difficulties is not easy. The Sea Captain's House is situated on the side of a fairly steep hill overlooking the sea. Although Ralph Street follows the contours of the hill, access to the house involves flights of external stone steps.
There is on street parking available in Ralph Street to the front of the property. It is also possible to park outside the rear of the property on an access road without tarmac road finish.
From Ralph Street it is necessary to ascend two flights of stone steps. At night time the lower flight is illuminated by the street lights, the upper flight by a light above the front door. The steps are not aided by effective handrails.
From the access road at the rear it is necessary to descend one flight of stone steps. At night time the steps are brightly illuminated by a powerful security light above the rear door. The steps are not aided by handrails.
The house has two storeys separated by a single flight of stairs with handrail on one side. The ground floor is all on one level. The first floor is all on one level except that the landing at the top of the stairs is one step below the first floor. The one bathroom is situated on the first floor.
